Ms. Duran joined TMG Consulting in January 2009. She is involved with capital development projects and privatization efforts at the New Orleans International Airport, feasibility studies for the gaming industry, neighborhood impact assessments, and GIS mapping.
Ms. Duran has completed her coursework for her master’s degree in Preservation Studies from the Tulane School of Architecture and was awarded her degree in January 2010. Her interests are mainly in adaptive re-use, progressive urban planning and historic preservation. While at Tulane she was active in post-Katrina redevelopment efforts by documenting historic buildings at the Jackson Barracks National Guard facility and developing a preservation-based redevelopment plan for historic neighborhoods.
Prior to beginning her studies at Tulane, Ms. Duran attended New York University and focused her coursework on land-use, planning and development. During her time at NYU she worked for the New York City Department of Transportation in the planning division through her participation in Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s internship program. Ms. Duran then moved on to the New York State Department of Transportation where she interned for the regional metropolitan planning organization (NYMTC) with notable projects in transit mode analysis and documenting the reduction of transportation-based pollutants as mandated by the federal government. She graduated from NYU in 2006 and pursued a career in the private sector with a real estate development company managing construction projects in New York City. During this time she helped complete the first development under the city’s Inclusionary Housing Program in Fort Greene, Brooklyn.
