Mr. Norton has eleven years of professional planning, transportation, and project management experience. His work includes strategic planning, capital program development, project feasibility and impact analysis, economic justification, conceptual design, visualization and other programming activities necessary to realize projects from inception to implementation.
Mr. Norton has worked for several years in airport planning, working extensively for the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport's current wave of modernization projects, including a $20 million rehabilitation of the terminal aimed at immediately improving the passenger experience. Mr. Norton has also worked closely with the Airport in the creation of its long-term development strategy that will guide future growth and replacement of aging facilities. He led the creation of a master plan for the Downtown New Orleans Heliport with long-term financial viability and works in long-range facility planning.
Mr. Norton also provides transportation planning and management oversight services to the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority, including capital plan development, operations performance, and procurement. He has led the analysis on implementation of intelligent transportation systems implementation and comparison of streetcar expansion alternatives.
Prior to joining TMG, Mr. Norton returned to his native New Orleans in 2007 to work for the City's Recovery Office where he created a sustainable transportation plan and led initial development of $10 million in programs to encourage fresh food retailing and production using recovery funds.
Mr. Norton began his career working in engineering design for large defense programs in the Washington, D.C. area. After graduate school, he worked Los Angeles and London, UK in transportation and land-use planning including evidence-based urban design, transportation modeling, long-range strategic planning, and project management of transportation studies for a range of public and private clients.
Mr. Norton holds both Bachelor and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering, and is currently an Engineer in Training (EIT) in the State of Louisiana.
